Wildlife, culture and unique travel experiences are things I love to create so it was a privilege to help these two incredible ladies plan such a special trip, and I love how they embraced every experience...
Having both travelled to Africa before, we knew we wanted an authentic experience – something truly special in a place we hadn’t been before, and Namibia did not disappoint.
We had never met Jenny before, but she came highly recommended, and after speaking with her, we knew we were in safe hands. Every detail of our trip was carefully arranged, from flights and transfers to lodges, safaris and excursions. Jenny was always available, and when a booking hiccup cropped up, she had it sorted within minutes – that’s the value of a great travel agent!
Our adventure began with a smooth flight with British Airways to Johannesburg, where we were met by a Menzies rep who took care of everything for our onward journey to Windhoek. From the moment we arrived in Namibia, we were struck by the stunning landscapes and warm hospitality of the local people.
Each lodge we stayed in had its own character. Mokuti Etosha Lodge was a standout, offering a mix of comfort and incredible surroundings.
Some accommodations, like Jamba Hills, were more rustic – tented, with no air con or shade – but the service and food were exceptional everywhere we stayed.
We travelled as part of a lovely group of like-minded travellers, and the camaraderie made the experience even more special.
We had both been on safaris before in Kenya, South Africa and Botswana, but Namibia was different. This felt like a hands-on, immersive experience, offering real insight into animal behaviour rather than just ticking off sightings.
Some of the most incredible moments included watching a lion cub playing near a waterhole, seeing herds of zebra and wildebeest in stunning formations across the plains, observing rhinos and giraffes hesitantly checking their surroundings before drinking, and witnessing elephants ‘talk’ to each other - something we had never experienced before.
Our guide, Panda, was an absolute highlight. We never laughed so much on a trip! His knowledge, enthusiasm and sense of humour made every game drive a joy.
This wasn’t just a wildlife trip though – Namibia offered so many unexpected and unforgettable experiences.
One of the biggest challenges (and achievements!) was climbing Little Daddy, part of the mighty Big Daddy sand dune, which towers at 325m. Let’s just say, we felt it in our calf muscles for days! The Deadvlei petrified trees were an eerie yet breathtaking sight – a photographer’s dream.
We also took a catamaran cruise in Walvis Bay, where we saw pelicans, dolphins and even a cheeky seal that jumped onboard to say hello! One particularly memorable moment? A pelican landing on my head – not something that happens every day!
Our adventures continued with a 4x4 drive through the sand dunes, an exhilarating ride through Namibia’s breathtaking desert landscapes. We also took a cruise to Swakopmund, a charming coastal resort nestled between the desert and the sea, where German colonial architecture blends seamlessly with modern hotels.
A desert lunch under the open sky was another standout - white tablecloths, wine glasses and spectacular views.
A Bushman’s dinner, lit entirely by lanterns was simply magical, offering a real sense of connection to the land and its people.
We were fascinated by Namibia’s rich tribal heritage and had the privilege of visiting two different tribes. The people we met were charming, proud and deeply connected to their traditions. It was eye-opening to learn about their way of life and see how traditions have been passed down through generations.
While our itinerary was packed with incredible experiences, there was little time for relaxing - not that we were complaining.
This was a trip full of adventure, laughter, and moments that will stay with us forever. Jenny was fantastic, sorting everything professionally and always being on hand if we needed anything. She made sure everything ran like clockwork and handled any issues quickly and efficiently. Would we recommend her? Without hesitation. Would we book with her again? Absolutely.
