Client Blog: Alan and Paula in Las Vegas and San Francisco

I met Paula at my local tennis club and was delighted to help organise a special US trip for her and her husband to Las Vegas and San Francisco. Alan compiled a fabulous review of their long-awaited adventure…

After providing Jenny with some initial thoughts on where and when we wanted to go, she produced a perfect itinerary along with excellent advice on the best times to travel, in what order and secured excellent hotel deals for us.

She understood our requirements from the get-go, and after the pandemic had delayed us for a couple of years, we eventually travelled in style throughout our trip, starting with a very welcome Airport Lounge stay in Heathrow.

Las Vegas was everything we had expected: full on, in your face and a non-stop barrage of noise, lights, smells and sounds. We were mesmerised by the scale and size of everything, including the portion sizes when it came to food.

The Venetian Hotel was a great base, and we were privileged to stay in a magnificent luxury suite. The weather was cold, yet sunny and bright, providing the perfect opportunity to spend a few days exploring.

We utilised the “hop on–hop off” bus on the first day before visiting places that had caught our eye on the following days.

The Beatles Cirque Du Soleil show at the Mirage Hotel was incredible and the Australian Bee Gees show at the Excalibur was out of this world. We also visited the new “Sphere” venue which we could see from our hotel window. It was an amazing experience and just a shame that our visit narrowly missed U2’s residency there – although we did watch a fully immersive film which took us to a new level of cinematic viewing.

After a few hectic but happy days in sunny Vegas, we caught an excellent internal flight to San Fransisco and arrived in the rain.

Another excellently located hotel in Fisherman’s Wharf in San Fransisco served as an ideal headquarters and we again used the “hop on–hop off” to explore the sights.

We clung on for dear life over the Golden Gate Bridge as the wind and rain were pretty fierce, but we enjoyed it nonetheless before seeing what Pier 39 had to offer and taking the obligatory trip to the mysterious, historic Alcatraz.

After what seemed like a flash, the holiday was over, and we were on the return flight. On reflection, we both agreed that it had been an amazing experience that we’d never forget but were unlikely to return to the US.

Although we had budgeted, the costs of basic provisions at the shows surprised us and whilst we appreciate the rationale, trying to negotiate the American tipping system for every transition becomes wearing. And in San Francisco, there is an additional local tax applied to everything you buy, too.

This is an observation of the locations and no reflection whatsoever on the service we received from Jenny, who was fantastic from start to finish in the planning and execution of the trip.

We could not have asked for a better service; Jenny took away any stress or concerns we had, and her hard work ensured that the trip of a lifetime was hassle-free.

I don’t remember travelling abroad previously when we’ve not been worrying about our choices and this time, we were able to relax and make the best of everything with complete confidence.

Thank you so much, Jenny. We would have no hesitation in recommending you to others.
